This month, the Play for Smile team organized a fire safety training session at Rainbow Bridge Care Center, bringing together our volunteers, caregivers, and children with disabilities. The event focused on one of the most essential aspects of safety — knowing how to act calmly and effectively in case of a fire. Our volunteers worked alongside staff to review exit routines, identify clear escape routes, and practice how to assist or carry children who may not be able to evacuate on their own.
Beyond learning procedures, the training highlighted how critical preparedness is in protecting every child’s wellbeing. For children with disabilities, emergency situations can be especially challenging — limited mobility, sensory sensitivity, or communication barriers make it vital that caregivers and volunteers are confident in their response. Through hands-on drills and discussions, participants gained a better understanding of what to do if a fire occurs, ensuring that everyone can act quickly and safely under pressure.
This event not only strengthened the center’s overall safety awareness but also fostered a deeper sense of teamwork and responsibility within the community. By raising awareness about emergency preparedness, we helped make Rainbow Bridge a safer environment for every child and caregiver. Play for Smile remains committed to creating joyful, secure spaces where children with disabilities can thrive — because safety and care go hand in hand.
