what is Rainbow Bridge?
In the aftermath of the devastating Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake in January 1995, a group of parents from the Kobe City Parents' Association for Severely Mentally and Physically Disabled Children started to brainstorm ways to create a support system for their kids. They collaborated with volunteers, companies, and like-minded individuals to establish Rainbow Bridge, にじのかけ橋.
From Day 1
Rainbow Bridge has been about providing opportunities. People with various disabilities, including graduates from special-school and individuals who've developed disabilities later in life, come together to work on tasks that suit their abilities – from sticker-pasting and cleaning to gardening and more.
On March 28, 2025 -
PlayforSmile team visited Rainbow Bridge's Kobe operating center with a mission to spread joy and make a difference. Three enthusiastic members, including Romeo, brought their infectious energy and shared it with the kids at the center. The highlight of the visit was an interactive basketball session, where the kids got to experience the thrill of the game and exercise their fingers in a fun, low-stakes environment.
The visit also included a fun dance session, where the kids were encouraged to move and groove to the music. The PlayforSmile team worked alongside the children, supporting them by teaching them movements and helping them enjoy the experience.
And its not done -
